Becoming a Chef is a life time Dedication to Food and Fun

There are two ways of becoming a chef.

On the job training and working your way up the ladder....

Drawback is you are only learning what that restaurant teaches you and your education may be limited. The best would be to enroll in an credited school with an associated degree in culinary arts. After completing a very well rounded course you will receive an AS degree

but best of all you will find were your most talented at. With this degree you will be able to move up the ladder faster in any restaurant that you are working in. You could always work part time while going to school to add more experience for your career. Post your knowledge! How to Become a Vegetarian?

"A combination of both" would be ideal as just learning a house style may limit your prospects in the future, but skill without experience is also limiting... on balance, I'd go apprentice.

Are you aware of the dreadful hours you will be working that will kill your social life with anyone other than people in the same career? Forget Christmas and your birthday! I'm not trying to put you off, but I know a team of chefs who been there as they say and it can be lonely. You pay a high price for success in this business, (and most new restaurants fail.)"

If your thinking of becoming a chef, you would have to dedicate your life to the culinary arts, I would suggest to ask yourself these questions.

Why do you want to become a chef ....how it will benefit you...
the education you will get .... what you hope to benefit from being a chef...how your future monetarily will be...your willingness for growth in the food industry.....your goals......what made you interested in becoming a chef....your likes and dislikes about the field of cookery...
make yourself an outline and then write something about each of those things...(good luck)
