Tea Towel Aprons

This is a Tea Towel Apron for my Angel.
Here is a great project that can be done by an individual, a supervised child, or even as a group. Tea towel aprons are simply aprons which are made using two tea towels sewn together using a simple pattern.
This project can also be personalized by starting with printed or silk-screened tea towels. This idea originated from a school fundraiser in which the children of the school all submitted a personal self-portrait drawing of themselves.
These drawings were then transferred onto simple white tea towels, each with the authors name below the drawing. In the center of the towel was the school's insignia.
The towels were then sold for profit to raise funds for playground equipment. This method would be a great way to create unique aprons with a child's own drawings. The fundraising idea could also be expanded to include not only the tea towels, but aprons that are then made from them.
To make a simple apron from tea towels, simply lay one rectangular tea towel height-wise on your work surface. Lay the second towel across length-wise at desired area of the first, forming the skirt and bib of the apron.
Sew the towel on by stitching across the top center of the length-wise towel. You now have the skirt and bib of your apron made!

Next, tie simple ribbons for around the neck and ties for around the back. Pockets could also be sewn on the front.
This pattern can easily be adjusted to make both child and adult sized aprons. Let your tea towel creativity soar, or show your children how important they are by wearing their creations everytime you work in the kitchen!
